A little bit about me, Inga:
It was around 13 years ago I was first diagnosed with depression and anxiety. Over the years since then I have tried counselling, CBT and anti-depressants but it wasn’t until 2015 I decided to try Reiki and I fell in love with it. So much so after a bit of encouragement from a good friend I decided to learn how to do it myself to help others the way it has helped me. I completed my level one in August 2015, my level two in March 2016 and my Reiki Masters a year later in March 2017. I also have completed a course in applying Reiki to animals including equine Reiki and most recently qualified as a Reiki drum practitioner. Reiki is such a loving & positive vibration and I feel so grateful for how it has changed my life and to be able to share this beautiful gift with others.
What is Reiki?
Reiki (pronounced Ray-Key) translated means ‘Universal life force energy’ and is based upon both Japanese and Tibetan Buddhist traditions. It is a natural healing system, re-discovered by a Japanese man called Dr Usui and designed to achieve balance on all levels. It is administered through a Reiki attuned practitioner, who channels the energy to the recipient.
Reiki heals on a physical, mental, emotional and spiritual level & balances the chakras (energy fields). The seven main chakras can become blocked due to the stresses of day-to-day living. These blockages can manifest as common ailments. When balanced, the free flow of energy can reduce stress, fear & anxiety & can strengthen the immune system, aiding the healing process of any aches, pains or ailments.
Reiki is a very loving & positive vibration that can do no harm and automatically goes where it is needed most. It is a simple, natural & safe method of spiritual healing which works in conjunction with all other medical or therapeutic techniques to promote recovery. Reiki will benefit everyone, the only exceptions being those with a pacemaker and anyone with suspected appendicitis.
Your treatment will last between 45 minutes to 1 hour. There will be a quick consultation beforehand & I will ask you to fill in a short medical questionnaire. You will then lie, fully clothed, on the treatment bed with a blanket over you & I will put on some relaxing music.
I place my hands on your body, and slowly work through the hand positions which correspond to each chakra. My eyes remain closed for most of the treatment & I work downwards from your head. At the end of the treatment I will leave you for a few minutes to absorb the energies, and then bring you a glass of water.
During the session, you should feel relaxed and calm. Below is a list of other sensations you may feel. Many clients fall asleep which does not affect the healing in any way.
- Hot or trembling hands
- Feeling of more hands than mine on the body
- Energy flows and bursts
- Emotional release, tears
- Emotional highs
- Involuntary twitching
- Stomach rumbling, coughing, yawning (energy shifts)
- Great relaxation and tiredness
- Old memories resurfacing
- A floating sensation
- Inner calm and peace of mind

What to expect after Reiki
After the treatment people often feel refreshed with a more positive, balanced outlook. You may feel uplifted with increased energy levels and people often notice an extra ‘spring in their step’ You should also feel a reduction in any worries, stress levels and aches & pains. Reiki removes any negative vibrations whether physical, emotional or mental (similar to a detox) therefore occasionally people may feel a little sluggish, experience a gentle release of emotions or a slight headache this is your body’s way of eliminating the negativity and will clear soon after. This is a positive result, releasing what you no longer need a bit like a spring clean. Letting go of the old and moving fully into the new. Each treatment is as individual as the patient and is, of course, confidential.
You should relax, take it easy and avoid alcohol and caffeine for the remainder of the day/evening & drink plenty of water to aid the cleansing process. You are likely to experience a very deep and restful sleep. Within 24 hrs you will feel the benefits from just one treatment but often people book a course of Reiki sessions. In this case, I recommend at least 7 days between treatments to allow the energies to settle.
I look forward to meeting you and sharing the beautiful gift of Reiki, much love Inga.
